What does the abolishment of the counterpart driving licence mean to recruitment agencies?
From the 8th of June 2015 the paper counterpart to the photo card driving licence will no longer be valid and will not be issued by the DVLA. So how will this affect the provision of drivers from agencies to clients? On the face of it most businesses will be against the move as traditionally any driver that is supplied by an agency will be asked to produce both parts of his or her licence for inspection prior to being allowed out on the road. The new system however will allow the agency and client to check the drivers entitlement and endorsements via the DVLA’s new share driving licence service as long as the driver is present. This will give immediate up to date information and will safeguard companies from using drivers without correct entitlement or those attempting to work whilst banned or withholding endorsements.
